About the Art

Kathleen paints primarily with watercolor and acrylic, but paints with oil occasionally. She draws with pencil, colored pencil and charcoal.

The paintings and drawings are very realistic but with enhanced or ethereal colors which give the work a visionary, mystical, or other-worldly effect. Kathleen believes that decades of meditation provide the source of her inspiration, and that Spirit or God is the artist rather than she.

Kathleen's paintings and drawings depict the natural world which she loves; including mountains, trees, animals and birds as well as people she has known. Water, the moon and connecting form through line are recurrent themes in her work. All the work is inspired by meditation. Light is a constantly recurring theme as well.

Mistwood studio gallery, which showcases Kathleen's art, is located in Ashland, Oregon; home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Her private studio is located in the forest north of Mt Shasta.
